One host, 2 VMs 2 DB instances and 1 Grid instance

I have a host running OL 7.1, and OL 6.5 and OL 7.1 VMs, created using virt-manager.  I want to install Oracle 11g DBMS on the 6.5 VM and Oracle 12c DBMS on the 7.1 VM.  I would like to run one instance of Grid Infrastructure, to serve storage, restart to both DBMSs.  Is RAC necessary and do I need another VM for that Grid instance?
