RMAN not removing files from EMC Data Domain device

My problem appears to be with RMAN (10g) deleting actual backup files from the EMC Data Domain backup device, using the retention policy setting. I have Oracle10g database running on Windows x86, and I am using RMAN scripts for the nightly backup. The backup works successfully, and reports no errors. On the database I have a retention policy setting of 14 days, see below.

The RMAN reports as if the backup files are deleted properly, so when I do a “list backup” or “list backup summary” it does not list any files older than 14 days. It would seem that RMAN thinks the files have been deleted off the Data Domain device, yet we know they have not been deleted. We have contacted EMC who have examined our Data Domain device, and manually removed a large number of old (older than 14 days) files off the Data Domain device to clear some space.
