AP Workbook Wizard Selection Limitations

My understanding has always been that the selection limitations in the Assortment Planning workbooks wizards, such as Assortment Creation, were based on sizing and performance concerns. For example, the Assortment Creation wizard only allows the user to select one Class. Are there any other reasons for this? Is there anything within the "base" configuration that is dependent on only one Class or Buying Period being in a workbook??
