What is the difference between the BOM explosion (MRP) and ASCP BOM explosion??

Right now, we are uploading forecast at model level in MRP and have MRP explode it and have it collected by ASCP Collections.

we would like to do the same by enabling forecast explosion in ASCP Plan options... What are the pros/cons if we do this way ? Can some one explain?
