RAC - restart ntpd question

I have observed that some of our RAC servers are running ntp without -x option and some with -L option, so i will have to modify the ntpd and add -x (for slewing)to it and restart ntpd. The BIG question is, is it safe to do on the fly for RAC servers. ENV 11GR2 and Redhat 6.5
