Data Guard Switch Over.....

Dear Oracle Experts,

We have 11.2.0.4 database configured with Physical Standby database. Now the management are planning for doing a switch over activity.

Just wants to check before doing switch over activity, is there any special check or pre-requisite for doing the activity.?

I am doing this activity first time, please help me to perform the activity successfully.
