Standalone 12c to RAC - 2 node

Hi

We have a 12c E.E  stand alone database with the storage on SAN

We are NOT using ASM and using file system to for storing the database

The database size is about 8 TB

We are asked to look into migrating this environment to a RAC environment - 2 node and one of that node needs to be the existing node

Now we are thinking that if the 2 nodes are brand new ones, we can create a brand new RAC installation on those 2 new servers and move the database using RMAN

But if we need to use the existing server as one of the nodes, what would be required? What will drive the downtime in this process?
