Bank Tape Vs Automatic Bank Statement Processing

I am looking at both the bank tape (Doc ID 664694.1) and automatic bank statement processing (Doc ID 2097234.2) options for my company. At present, my focus is to reconcile AP checks for which the bank tape looks ideal. But in the future, I want to reconcile AR receipts. My understand is that the automatic bank statement process allows to reconcile both AP check and AR receipts ( and a lot more). If it is true, then it would be more cost effective to pay for one file, which is a standard BAI2 formatted file, and then reconcile both AP (now) and AR (in the future). If this is true, then
