Poor disk I/O for NFS hosted virtual disk on OVM 3.3.3 and 10GB network

edited Mar 28, 2016 4:17PM in Oracle VM (OVM) (MOSC) Question

Using OVM 3.3.3 on x86_64

We've setup several 'repositories' via SAN to our OVS systems via redunant 8Gbps FibreChannel and a VM with it's root drive defined as a virtual disk in the repository we can do disk I/O at 350-400 MBytes/sec.

As a test we've setup a NAS (NFS) share from the same storage and presented it to the Oracle VM environment and created a repository there.   However, we've noted that VM's using a virtual root drive defined on the NFS based repository only gets only 100-130 MBytes/sec, and high stats for disk wait % during operations like loading a large yum repository or other disk intensive operations.

Howdy, Stranger!
