Custom advanced pricing formula

Is there a way to create an advanced pricing formula that will subtract a value of 1 from the output attribute value and then multiply it by the charge. For example, if TTLNUM_PADCLRS is 8, then I want the formula to take 8 minus 1 and give me 7, then multiply 7 by .04.
