How to unselect the first record on a list applet

Hello,

I ran into this scenario and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this .

By default when you navigate to a list applet, the first record is highlighted that is showed on the UI. Is there a way we can unselect that first record? Basically forcing the user to do something on that applet to select a record?

We have a couple of workaround like adding new fields to make it work but wanted to see if there is a Siebel way of doing it like a method or something.
