How to upgrade GI in RAC config with dataguard physical standby in read only mode with redo apply ac

Hello,

We have a 5 node 11.2.0.3 GI and RDBMS configured with dataguard physical standby in read only mode with redo apply active.

We are looking to upgrade to 11.2.0.4 with the latest Jan 2016 PSU for both homes.

We would like to minimize downtime and are planning to:

1. Upgrade the GI on the standby DB to 11.2.0.4

2. Install the 11.2.0.4 RDBMS software into a new HOME with software only option on the standby.

3. Patch the 11.2.0.4 RDBMS software to Jan 2016 PSU on the standby.

4. Begin a downtime period for the primary database.

5. Upgrade the GI on the primary DB to 11.2.0.4

6. Install the 11.2.0.4 RDBMS software into a new HOME with software only option on the primary.
