Issue with PO receipt

In the PO receipt application the lot expiry date is made as an mandatory field. This has a validation of today's date(system date) with the entered expiry date and the expiry date is less than today's date the system is throwing a hard error stopping the transaction.

Please let me know, How to do PO receipt for an item, if the Lot Expiry date is less than the today's date.
