Asset Management self service approver?

We have setup AM self service AWE and setup the userlist for transfer approval to be a specific role to which only one person is linked.  When that person tries to approve or deny a specific request for an asset, he gets the following error message:  "AM920_Workflow Error - Else &approvalMgr.hasPending" - which normally means that he isn't the correct manager who should approve this AM SS request. 

Where can I see who the approver is supposed to be for the specific asset transfer request?
