Best work around to track inventory items issues for capital project without Project Mfg

Hi Gurus,

What would be the best work around to track inventory items issues/consumption for capital project without Project Mfg.To detail the scenario- There are a category of items which are used up in building an asset/capital project, which are used up frequently so the customer wants to inventorize it and track it as it may be used on other projects, if left out from current project.We dont have Project manufacturing module.Please suggest what best we can do?
