Which OS user id is used to connect when the connection is initiated via a database link

Is there documentation that Oracle has, that explains which OS (host) user id is used to connect from one Oracle database (on one host) to another Oracle database (on a separate host machine), when the connection is initiated via database link?  Does it connect using the OS user that runs the listener service on the target host?
