migrate ebs from rhel5 to rhel6

Currently have EBS applications running on RHEL5.10.  Planning to migrate OS to RHEL6.6

Can I copy the existing apps tier from the RHEL5.5 server to the new server with RHEL6.6 and recompiling with new libraries or will I need to perform a base installation and migrate any customizations to this tier.
