Are there differences between ODI configured with FDMEE and standalone ODI?

Gurus,

Just a generic question: Are there differences between ODI configured with FDMEE and standalone ODI? In the past I have always used standalone ODI  however starting with FDMEE (with ODI) is it possible to use the ODI configured with FDMEE instead of using standalone ODI? If we can use the ODI configured with FDMEE, would it be complete like the standalone ODI or would there be limitations?

Any help would be appreciated.
