Backup strategy prior to migrating data to TDE Tablespace Encryption

We are looking into migrating data from unencrypted to encrypted tablespaces.

If something goes wrong during this process would RMAN be able to roll back the database to it's pre-migration state?  Or would a full cold backup of the datafiles be recommended?

Just looking into "Best Practices" for this scenario and have found very little information on the subject.
