Renewed contracts with renewal type 'Notify salesrep' turned into expired state, if salesperson will

We are having a problem for renewed contracts. We are having renewed contracts in 'Entered' status with renewal type 'Notify salesrep'. They turns to 'Expiered' if salesperson will not activate it befor the new period starts. They should remain in 'Entered' status, till salesperson actually activate them (irrespective of the start date).

This is not the case with new contracts. They ends up in Entered status and stay in that status until users activate them.

Is there a problem with renewal type 'Notify salesrep'? Earlier our users were using renewal type 'Active Contract' and not reported this kind of issue then.
