Inventory reservation not based on oldest sales order line

Hi all,

We keep having issues where inventory is being giving and shipped to sales orders that are booked after sales orders that are still waiting for inventory.  At what point is the inventory actually reserved?  When the sales order line is booked, when the sales order line is saved or when the sales order line is pick released?


What are some other things to check to make sure that the oldest sales order line gets the available inventory?
