Potential Performance issues with OEM and AMP ?

Old DBA,. New to MOSC.   In a previous life we had issues with a (non-Oracle) monitoring solution loading the system to the point that it became the largest consumer of resources on the box.  We are currently preparing to deploy OEM and AMP to our Production environments. 

Question to the EM MOSC: Are there any general recommendations for OEM and AMP installation and configuration to ensure a clean "light weight" installation on the targeted servers ?   If you could point me to the appropriate White Papers or KB articles, your help would be greatly appreciated.    Thx,  Warren
