Unable to delete or nullify Descriptive flexfields of Common Lookups

Hi,

We are currently in R12.2.4. I  found that we cannot delete or blank out or nullify a Descriptive Flexfield (DFF) segment from the Common Lookup form. I found that when a DFF segment of this Common Lookup already has a value and then one tries to delete that value and then save that updated record, a successful "Transaction completed" message will appear even though the data still remains. When I query the same updated record, the DFF value I thought deleted re-appears. Is this a bug?   I found this issue affects lookup_types that were created before and after the R12
