Need to know the total accumulated time for each User Status in Case

Is there a way we can compute for the total accumulated time in each User Status in a Service Request? The audit trail is the only place I see that a timestamp is recorded whenever a change in User Status is done. Can you please confirm that? Have you had this requirement for your other customers? If yes, how do they achieve this requirement?
