Essbase application port range - multiple essbase servers on a single physical host

Hi All,

I'm reviewing configuration of multiple essbase servers (multiple VMs) on a single physical server. In a standard deployment the essbase application port range covers 1000 ports.

1. What issues may occur when the same port range is assigned to all essbase servers on a single physical box?

2. Can the range be reduced, ie to 300 ports for each server. If so, what are the consequences? What does the amount of ports used concurrently by essbase depend on (number of concurrent users, type of activity, application design)? What would be a safe number or should I consider 1000 a minimum for any deployment.
