Is there a way to prevent items from immediately showing on the cycle count list after being receive

It seems that as soon as we receive an item into inventory the system is asking for the material to be cycle counted.  Is there a way for the system to take into account the cycle count cat code to determine the next count date?  Any other alternatives?
