Why would Document Creation Method for a PO be Blank (NULL)

Dear AP Gurus,

We are on Oracle Applications version 12.1.1 and see a lot of Purchase Orders where PO_HEADERS_ALL.DOCUMENT_CREATION_METHOD is NULL.

In order to simulate this in a Dev instance, we created a PO using Oracle Autocreate Form as well as through Buyer Work Center and both POs had DOCUMENT_CREATION_METHOD as AUTOCREATE. Therefore, we were unable to simulate this exact scenario.

What could be the reasons/scenarios when this field does not have any value? Is there any other way to find out how the said POs were created?

Any help is appreciated.
