Startup-shutdown dbs services in windows

Hey Guys

I 'd like to do an open question to experience guys on Windows environments how common are the startup shutdown dbs services n windows using a batch script or oradmin command; i mean i know they exist and there are different ways to do it but mostly I'd like to know how common are these kind of automate process. Here in my project there are some critical db no so BIG let's say that the biggest it's around 1TB anf my concern it's that the SYS Admins Guys use to schedule in automatically way the windows updates and patching.
