Item Revision in Formula

Hello,

In Discrete Manufacturing, if I add a component item to a BOM, Oracle automatically uses the most recent revision that is in effect.    If I am making a batch of bread products and I want to use a packaging item (i.e. a bread bag) that has an older revision than the current revision to pack my bread into, in Discrete Manufacturing, I cannot do this.

Question 1: 

If I am defining a formula in OPM, can I leave the item revision blank?.

Question 2:

If I leave the revision blank, can I select the desired revision at the time I pick my component items for the batch?
