EPMA dimension server not starting up

The dimension server was working fine before a server snapshot was taken. Now on startup it keeps trying to processing xml files while building out the master catalog (from dimension server startup logs). Restore to snapshot did not resolve the issue. No errors in Event Viewer logs. Check db and required parameters are set to ON. Hardware is VM running on Win 2012 R2. Other EPM components on the server are working fine. I've read articles/blogs on similar EPMA dimension server startup issues but am not sure any of those applied to this situation.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
