How to deinstall 12c grid

Does anyone know how to deinstall the Oracle12c grid (not database) software from Linux when the Oracle-provided deinstall program fails?  I made a mistake trying to install a PSU patch after installing the Oracle12c grid software for a new, three-node RAC system.  I have no user data to worry about yet in this new, test system.  I just want to be able to re-install the grid software, then carefully apply the PSU patch this time.  But, when I tried the deinstall that is part of the Oracle12 install now, it left (at least most) of the $GRID_HOME software in place.
