Oracle Golden Gate for Zero Downtime Migration

We are hoping to do an out-of-place upgrade and are hoping to use GoldenGate to implement the Zero Downtime Model.

Is it possible to configure an Extract and Pump with the Replicat process being added later? We are hoping to do this as the upgraded Target database will be created only a day or two after the database is backed up.
