Removing an employee fro a Quote Team Members field

Hi all

I am investigating a rather unusual issue and wonder if anybody has experienced this.  We are trying to remove an employee from the Quote Team Members field on a Quote.  We pull up the shuttle applet for the field and remove the employee, close the applet and save the record.  When we open the shuttle applet for the field again, that employee is back on the quote.  It is not being done by any assignment manager or workflow.  Does anybody know why this would keep coming back?
