Need details on how to enable the Pre-Payment on Service Contracts

We have a requirements where in client wants to put the contract on hold until the pre payment is received on the contract.

I figured out that this can be achieved through the flag of Pre-Payment required on contract header and pre payment can be received through the Commitment functionality however have not tried it.

Any pointers on this functionality will be highly appreciated.
