Adding a subledger to an existing asset

Is it possible to add a subledger to an existing asset?  I tried and now I see the message  ****Multiple Subledgers Exist ****  so I did a search on the Oracle site to see what that means.  I can't add

depreciation information, as it already exists for the subledger I added.  If I query the F1202 I see the subledger has been added but it's putting the depreciation to that subledgers. 

We are currently using JDE World A9.4
