Inventory Picking Rule with Serial numbers

We do not have WMS, just regular inventory module.

The requirement is to use FIFO only for certain items and have serial numbers recommended when pick wave transaction is created.

For all other items, system should do auto allocate and only suggest subinventory and locator and no serial numbers should be recommended.

Serial numbers are suggested when Allocate serial number is set to Yes in the org parameter. This is causing problem as in this case for all items serial numbers are recommended. Do we have an option that serial numbers should be recommended only for specific items when sales order is released.
