Can i copy and save files instead of run rapid install everytime on the same db and apps stack

We are testing upgrade from 12.1.3 to 12.2.5. Do we have to run rapidwiz everytime. Or once we recopy 12.1.3 from prod can we copy over the files saved on the last rapidwiz assuming so changes since that upgrade attempt?
