How is custom additional data point package evoked?

Can any one tell me what are the back end processes that occurs while additional data points are populated on a case folder,while creating a credit application for a customer on oracle credit management page?

Processes that call the  package and functions for each of the additional data points?

How is custom additional data point package evoked?
