Period End Exception report 'Invalid' status

We ran Subledger Period close exception report from cost management module and it is giving exception with status as 'Invalid'. It for the non-inventory catalog items so the item fields are blank. It gives me the transaction number and thats about it. No other error or indications. How can I investigate further in order to find out the issue?
