Use of a Record other than SSR_TSRPT_DS for Transcript Template

We are reviving the customization of our Transcript of Records (TOR); however, the delivered XML file isn't enough for our needs; as there are several fields that we need to be included in our TOR but are not included in the XML file.

However, we found out that we cannot just use any template other than SSR_TSCRPT for the report definition. To compensate for this shortcoming, we are planning to use a PS Query that we developed for our TOR, but does this require intensive programming effort in order for it to even be used in the Define Transcript Type component?
