Changing assignee for the deliverables in Repository Contracts

Hi Experts,

In Repository contracts, changing the assignee calls for creating a new version of the 'Contract'

In scenarios, like the assignee is not any more with the company, we need the deliverable to be actioned by another person.

But changing the assignee is possible only after a creating new version of the 'Contract' which triggers another approval process from different departments

Apps version 12.1.3

Is there a workaround in latest version ? or another option to changing the assignee without creating a new version of the contract
