Why the upapplied amount in a reversed receipt is not updated.

User reversed a receipt , the total activity amount now equals to zero. but the unapplied amount on the receipt is not updated . Applied and unapplied both are zero and hence user is not able to re-apply the receipt. please help why this happening.
