What to use for memory_max_target on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Server
Hello,
We are going to have a Windows server (2008 R2) with 8 GB of memory running Oracle Database Standard Edition (11.2.0.3.0). I would like to use Automatic Memory Management and need to determine the value for memory_target. The database will be the only thing running on the server. I understand that I need to leave memory for operating system, etc. But, how do I determine this? Is there a rule of thumb? I have seen the following in another post: Limit Oracle to leave 1G in every 4G to the OS up to 16G and then 1G in every 8G on up. Is this a good rule of thumb?
