Inventory Period status to be updated to Closed for old periods

Hi All,
We are currently upgrading our environment to R12.

In 11i we haven't used Period Close Reconciliation Report - report, hence all our old inventory periods (starting from 2004) are in 'Closed not summarized' status.
From R12 we have decided to use CST:Period Summary profile option to run Period Close Reconciliation Report automatically to update the inventory status to 'Closed' for future inventory periods.

So is there any feasible solution to update the old period status to 'Closed' in 11i without running 'Period Close Reconciliation Report' as we have around 8500 inventory periods in 'Closed not summarized' status.
