What is the need of xdodelivery.cfg file for Burst control file?

Is this required for Burst to Printer delivery?

And if not what will happening ?

And what is the uses of <filter>pdf2ps -paper Letter {infile} {outfile}</filter> in the xdodelivery.cfg file

What is uses of default="true"?
