Revenue split recognition between product and service item

Hi Friends,

Currently we are implementing R12.2.5 where business have following requirement regarding revenue split.

business use particular finished good item(ATO,PTO,CTO,or KIT item are not applicable) but we would still like to have product/revenues split.

e.g item shipped 60% revenue should recognized for product and 40% revenue should recognized for services.this should always be fix for this particular item type and we have different type of percentage for different types of item.


how can we achieve this by not having separate item code.

options we are thinking are:

1. Related items

2. BOM substitutes

we are not using oracle
