Why does a business function fail? what could be possible troubleshooting techniques in General?

Folks,

Please can anyone help me out on the above Question.

1. If business function fails due to Syntax Error how could an ESU Application resolve that Issue. Moreover how to Rectify which ESU will rectify that Issue.
