How do you deal with the work order requested date (DRQJ) being updated by the start date?

Hello. How do you deal with the work order requested date in your organizations? In mine, my maintenance crews would like for the requested date to be fixed, and not updated by the start date, so that way we can measure if we are complying with the dates given by our requestors.

Currently, if a user gives me a requested date for a job, and I plan to start this job after the requested date, the DRQJ will update same as start date. Which from a manufacturing POV I understand, but when this happens, I lose my original requested date given my the user. I understand if I plan to start a job after the requested date, I won't be able to comply, so I would ideally just have to change the requested date, but at that point I can't track my compliance. So how do you deal with this problem?
