Shippable PTO model item

There is business requirement to have an option such that PTO Model item can be shipped out alone, without any of its components. I am able to achieve this in system, by setting attribute for PTO Model item as 'Shippable' and unchecking 'Ship Model Complete' in the Order management tab. Created on-hand for model item and added it to the Price List. At the time of configuration, I select one or more components, and finally at the time of shipping, I just ship out the Model line and let the component get back ordered.
