Can I rename a responsibility and change the ledger associated to an existing responsibility ?

Can I rename a responsibility  and change the ledger associated to an existing responsibility? We are reimplementing Fixed assets for a branch and I was wondering if I can reuse some of the existing setups without fear of data corruption
